The Fashion Apparel Product Development course is the combination of Product Ranging and Product Specification I have learned in the past two years. This course coaches to develop fashion designers within specified guidelines and present the concepts to your client. My group of 3 members had to work closely through the whole project to a better outcome. All the groups who study the course were assigned with a local Vietnamese brand, Moi Dien.
Moi Dien, founded by Tom Trandt has been chosen by ELLE Vietnam to join 15 other designers all over the world to the International fashion Showcase organized by British Fashion Council, London College of Fashion, and Somerset House. The intention is to bring local international designers, with a different point of view to diversify into the international market, while keeping their identity in the home country.
With the guidance of our lecturer and working under the vision of Tom Trandt, my group were assigned to design and develop a denim collection for A/W 2019 collection to be developed by examining current trends The below video is the sketchbook of the research and development done for the Moi Dien.
After many sketches, the two outfits were finalized for production. The specification files, technical drawings, concept board, mood board, colour board, fabric board, and the print board were started to put in line to demonstrate our story. The below file will walk you through our story for A/W 2019 collection.
Vietnam war remains as one of the most controversial wars in human history. By inspiring from the tragic history of Vietnam, we developed the "Fortunate" Collection which is based on the anti-war movement. Below is a gallery of our products produced for Moi Dien A/W 2019 Collection by our group.
This is a unisex reversible denim jacket, with a floral embroidery symbolizing the daisy flower. The denim fabric is unwashed, in order to keep the rawness of the denim, to minimize harm on the environment. The inside fabric is cotton, that can be removed from the jacket during washing.
This is also a unisex linen shirt developed with the inspiration of "Black Pajama", the clothing that was worn by men who went to war and women who went did cultivation.
This is a raw denim fabric wide legged high waist unisex trouser. It has two Khaki coloured Linen fabric gusset pocket at the front, while a patch pocket at the back. The trouser has extra length to fold up the extra length to create a different style.
This is a raw denim dungaree dress. It is an asymmetric shaped dress with a side slit. An embroidery line design runs through one belt that is extra long. It also has a similar flower embroidery that was in the reversible denim jacket.
This is the second Linen shirt of our collection. The difference is that this shirt has buttons running only on one sleeve.
These are two sleeves sown by myself as accessories for our collection by using the leftover fabrics during the production of our collection.
This is a picture of my groupmate and I wearing the two outfits of our project on the presenting day to Tom Trandt, JSV Company and lectures. Later our project work were displayed in our University Window Display.
